One of Deep Ellum’s constant claims to fame since its founding in 1873 has been live music! Legendary bluesmen, such as Leadbelly, T-Bone Walker, Blind Lemon Jefferson, and Bessie Smith played the street corners and clubs of the 1920s as did modern legends like Edie Brickell, Reverend Horton Heat, and the Old 97s in the 1990s. Today, live music of all varieties can be heard each night in Deep Ellum. Although the COVID-19 Pandemic has dampened many live music opportunities, there is still plenty of music to be heard!
Gino “LockJohnson” Inglehard serves as the GM at The Free Man and is in charge of their live music booking. The Free Man has been a live music stalwart in Deep Ellum since it first opened and continues to keep the music alive, even in these strange times. Gino shared about one of the most exciting bands in Deep Ellum today and why you should make time to visit the neighborhood and watch them perform.
“The Found are an integral part of The Free Man family. They are one of the first bands that the venue really took a chance on in the area of residency and they have helped form the incredible music reputation that the venue holds today. Though some of the faces of the band have changed the spirit of the band yet remains the same. They are a big act with an even bigger sound and they deserve their moment in the sun when this COVID-19 dust clears. The world should definitely keep their eyes and ears open for them! Songs like The Found Anthem, She Wants To Get Away, and I’m On The Way (Cyfa Fix) are can’t miss for a first-time listener.”
The Found are the definition of a party band and they liven up every room they play with their ‘HYPTRONIC’ sound, fusing funk, jazz, hip-hop, rap, and R&B. If this sounds like an energetic and eclectic mix that you can’t wait to listen to, then you are in luck! The Found hold a residency at The Free Man and play every Thursday night on their Bourbon Stage from 10:00pm-2:00am. Come out to enjoy their high-octane fusion jams and be one of the first to know about Deep Ellum’s next emerging band!
