A specialty boutique in Deep Ellum has created a haven for one of the hardest-to-find items in the region, Japanese Denim. Deep Ellum Denim & Vintage, the Business of the Week, has established a full denim experience in Dallas.

Bennie Reed & Jeff Kauffman, the co-founders of Deep Ellum Denim, after a conversation over beers, realized the denim options in Dallas for men were lacking significantly and was in need of a shakeup. After deciding to pursue their dream, Jeff and Bennie plotted a denim expedition across Japan in search of the best materials, manufacturers, and craftsmen to partner with. After years of full-throttle research and development, Deep Ellum Denim was formed as a weekend-only boutique that operated out of Life in Deep Ellum. After operating as a pop-up, Deep Ellum Denim opened their own brick & mortar boutique on Commerce Street in 2018. They began crafting their own proprietary line of denim in 2019 and added a collection of high-quality vintage goods and clothing items in 2020.
